Augmented Art Research
Goal
Create a way for students to explore art and encounter scholarship related to specific parts of the image in a fun, effortless way.
Idea Generation
- Brainstormed ways technology could enhance art appreciation and education.
- Voted on ideas like audio guides, AR features, artistic filters, and gamifying the experience
- Focused on ideas that seemed feasible within a tight timeline
Idea Exploration
- Created basic wireframes and user flow diagrams for the top 3 ideas
- Reviewed ideas to determine which aligned best with project goals and end user needs
- Selected an augmented reality concept allowing users to overlay information on artworks viewed through their camera
Research Phase
- Gathered information on target audience interests and pain points around art exploration.
- Looked at existing museum apps to analyze strengths, weaknesses, and technical considerations.
- Brushed up on art history details and trends in mobile AR technology.
Design Phase
- Sketched an intuitive user interface with options to activate the AR layer and access context for artworks.
- Developed guidelines for overlay content and interactions based on research findings.
- Prioritized key features that could be demonstrated with prototype.
Testing
- Built a clickable prototype to showcase core functionality for team evaluation.
- Allow users try the prototype and provide feedback through guerilla usabiity testing.
- Refined flows and UI based on insights from the sessions
